Biography
Driven by a love of science and humanity, Dr Belouaer completed her medical studies in her hometown of Tunis. In 2013, she moved to Lausanne and began her training in paediatric surgery. Her passion for microsurgery and neurosciences led her to start her neurosurgical training in 2015 at CHUV.
Mentored by Professor Daniel and Professor Bloch, she developed a deep interest in cranial, oncological and functional neurosurgery. In 2018, she broadened her expertise by spending a year in Lyon, where she undertook inter-university training in neuro-oncology and refined her surgical skills within the neuro-oncology and vascular neurosurgery department led by Dr Guyotat and Dr Guyotat Pelissou.
In 2021, she completed her neurosurgical training at CHUV and was appointed chief resident. For two years, she devoted herself passionately to paediatric neurosurgery alongside Dr Messerer and to functional neurosurgery in collaboration with Professor Bloch, developing surgical expertise in both fields.
In 2022, she enriched her career by joining the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG) under the direction of Professor Schaller and in close collaboration with Professor Momjian. For a year and a half, she refined her expertise in oncological and functional cranial neurosurgery, particularly in the management of patients with facial pain (trigeminal neuralgia). She honed both microsurgical and percutaneous techniques to provide personalised, tailored care for each patient. During this period, she also had the opportunity to further develop her skills in spinal surgery.
