Our FMH neurologist provides assessment and monitoring of conditions of the central and peripheral nervous system. The neurological consultation is a key step in the evaluation of radicular pain, neuropathies and neurological disorders associated with spinal pathologies.
Clinical neurology
A comprehensive neurological examination allows localisation of the nerve lesion, assessment of its severity and guidance of further investigations. The consultation combines detailed history-taking, examination of reflexes, sensation, muscle strength and coordination.
Link with neurosurgery
The close proximity of neurosurgeons and the neurologist within neurocentre allows direct discussion of complex cases. When a condition evolves from the neurological domain towards a surgical indication, the case is transferred without delay, within the same centre.
Follow-up of chronic diseases
The neurologist monitors chronic diseases of the nervous system: multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, progressive peripheral neuropathies. In coordination with general practitioners, treatment is adapted and surveillance examinations are coordinated.
